从事菊花、桂花等品质生理与分子生物学研究。针对我国桂花花色和花香以及菊花抗虫等方面存在的问题，结合除虫菊的抗虫特性开展代谢组学和基因组学研究。同时，从事包括花卉园林应用和插花艺术在内的花卉应用技艺、园艺疗法等相关研究。
