Rui Fang is a native of Tianmen, Hubei Province, and a member of the Communist Party of China. D. in Agronomy from Huazhong Agricultural University, Postdoctoral Fellow in the College of Life Science and Technology of Huazhong Agricultural University, Associate Professor and Supervisor of Professional Doctorate and graduate student. He has long insisted on the front line of scientific research and teaching, and is committed to scientific research, talent training and platform construction, focusing on teaching, scientific research and scientific and technological promotion in veterinary clinical diagnosis.
In the past five years, he has been involved in a number of scientific research projects, including the "973" project, the National Key Research and Development Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and 14 horizontal research projects, with a total of 6,810,000 RMB at the university's disposal. He has made a series of innovative achievements in the pathobiology of Toxoplasma gondii and its molecular mechanism of infection in host cells. He has proved for the first time the existence of ATP transporter in the endoplasmic reticulum of Toxoplasma gondii, which provides new insights to further analyze the mechanism of energy supply of endoplasmic reticulum for the growth regulation of Toxoplasma gondii and even apicomplexan protozoa. He also has revealed that branched amylose is critical to Toxoplasma gondii's virulence, the brain capsule's function and activation, and the maintenance of chronic infection. Focusing on the modification of histone crotonylation, he have elucidated the immune evasion mechanism of Toxoplasma gondii in porcine alveolar macrophages.
Up to now, he has published 22 SCI papers, such as PLoS Pathogens, Microbiology spectrum, Frontiers in Immunology, and other journals as a corresponding author, including 5 papers in Class C journals in the university's hierarchical catalog, and has been authorized 8 patents, of which 2 are by the first inventor. He was awarded the third prize in Hubei Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress.
