Profile

Prof. Peiwen Liu was a Junior Research Group Leader in Dept. Wood Technology and Wood-based Composites, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. He was awarded a PhD in Wood Technology and Wood Chemistry from Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in 2020. From Mar 2016 to Jan 2020, he studied with Prof Kai Zhang as a PhD candidate in Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Germany.
His research fields are:
1. Development of selective and efficient as well as ecologically and economically benign preparation methods and their use in the exploitation of natural polymer (cellulose, chitin, hemicellulose, and lignin, etc.).
2. Preparation of advanced functional materials from natural polymers. He found and developed the technology to isolate native nanocrystals (cellulose nanocrystals and chitin nanocrystals) from biowaste via alkaline periodate oxidation.
Current institute and position:
Professor, College of Engineering, Huazhong Agricultural University, China.
