Zuo Bo is a professor at Huazhong Agricultural University, doctoral supervisor, and head of the Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding. He is mainly engaged in research on the regulation of animal muscle growth and development, cell culture meat preparation, pig functional genomics, molecular breeding and and the cultivation of new pig breeds (strains). In recent years, multiple new skeletal muscle development regulatory factors such as SYISL and lncMGPF have been identified. Among them, the SYISL gene locus has been named Syislem1Bzuo by the International Committee on Standardized Genetic Nomenclature. The research work has received attention and positive evaluations from peers both domestically and internationally. He has undertaken more than 20 national, provincial and ministerial level projects such as the National Genetically Modified Major Project, the National Science and Technology Support Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Hubei Provincial Natural Science Foundation Innovation Group. As the first or corresponding author, He has published more than 60 papers in journals such as PNAS, Nuclear Acids Res, J Cachexia Sarcopenia Muscle, Cell Mol Life Sci, etc.
