Dr. Qiang Li is currently serving as a full professor in the College of Engineering and an adjunct professor in the College of Horticulture and Forestry Science at Huazhong Agricultural University, China. He got his Ph.D. in Agriculture in 2015 from Hokkaido University, a top-tier national university in Japan. After that, he did his postdoc research at both Texas A&M University (2016.1-2020.1) and Northeastern University (2020.1-2021.4) in the United States. From 2021.4 to 2021.12, Dr. Li returned Texas A&M University and worked there as a Scientist I. In December 2021, Dr. Li moved back to China and joined Huazhong Agricultural University as a new journey of his academic career.
Dr. Li has a solid background in pulp and paper engineering, lignocellulosic biomass, and wood science. His research centers on advanced manufacturing using lignocellulosic biomass as feedstock for future sustainability. Dr. Li’s research is very interdisciplinary. He has strong interests in lignin modification and valorization, quality carbon fiber, functional nanofiber and nanoparticle, biodegradable bioplastics, artificial wood cell wall and its functionalization, nanocellulose and its functional application, next generation energy storage, next generation clean energy, clean water technology and such. He has published about 50 peer-reviewed papers, including these on ACS Nano, Trends in Biotechnology, Electrochemical Energy Review, Matter, Small, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Green Chemistry, Carbon, ChemSusChem, and Bioresources Technology. Dr. Li holds two Chinese patents, one US patent, and two US patents on pending. Moreover, Dr. Li has served as the ad hoc reviewer for about 10 peer-review journals like ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, Ind. Crops Prod., and Scientific Reports as well as two international conferences. Dr. Li is very active in the field, for instance, he had over 20 talks in recent years in the renowned conferences, such as AIChE, Material Research Society annual meeting (MRS), and Symposium on Biotechnology for Fuels and Chemicals (SBFC). For his scientific contribution to the field, Dr. Li has received some recognitions, including the Outstanding Ph.D.-Level Scientist award in 2017 from the Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology, Texas A&M University.
Diligence and passion are a blessing. Li Lab always welcomes the postdocs and students who work hard, are passionate for research, and can play hard to join our family. Your creativity, hard-working, and career development matter here!
